The Emperor of Antarctica

Hello! Today I would like to tell you about one of my favorite animals ... The Emperor Penguin.
This incredible animal is endemic to Antarctica and in my opinion one of the most beautiful and admirable animals there may be.

They are monogamous animals (they only have one partner in their life), and the father cares for the offspring (even in their eggs) while the mother, after having her baby and running out of energy or food in her body, goes for two months in search of food to the sea.
They live in a very cold habitat, with water at -1.8 ° C and extreme temperatures of around -20 ° C. Because of this, chicks are protected from the cold (and predators) resting on the upper legs of their parents, protected by their lower ventral plumage. This is very necessary because if they left the death by freezing it would happen in less than 10 min.
The male, who remains caring for his brood can lose up to twenty kilograms, going from about thirty-eight kilograms of total weight to only eighteen.
Once the female returns, she can find her companion among hundreds of males for their calling voices. From that moment she takes care of the chick, feeding it regurgitating the food that has stored in her stomach. Then it is the male who marches to the coast, passing there about twenty-four days until his return to the colony.
That's teamwork !!
